On August 11, 2018 many of the nation's finest artists and craftsmen will be coming to the Charlevoix Waterfront Art Fair to exhibit their best works. These have been chosen from over 1000 applicants who subject their work to the jury. This is a most difficult task as this fair attracts the finest but only a limited number of spaces are available.
The Fair is always held the second Saturday in August and draws over 25,000 art lovers to this resort town between Lake Michigan and Round Lake. It is the second oldest juried art fair in Michigan.
Considered one of the most visually exciting art fairs in the country, the Charlevoix Waterfront Art Fair, now in its 60th year, has a reputation with critics and collectors because of both the quality of the work and the unparalleled location. The focus of the fair to bring fine arts and crafts to northern Michigan hasn't changed since a group of Charlevoix residents coined it and began the fair in 1958.

My entry for ArtPrize 9, The Rhythms and Colors of the Porcupine Mountains, was inspired by my time spent in the upper peninsula of Michigan last summer during an artist-in-residence program at the Porcupine Mountains. I have created seven large paintings that capture the vibrational energy and life forms that exist at the state park. I cannot wait to share with you this new body of work that captures the beautiful landscape of the Porcupine Mountaints.
My seires of paintings will be shown at the Panera Bread in downtown Grand Rapids acorss from Rosa Parks Circle. Look for my work in the front entry way, as well as the back room.
In the past, the majority of my works have captured the colors and forms within the sandy landscape along Lake Michigan. Because of this, the lush green forests of the Porcupine Mountains has opened a new world to my work, bringing a fresh color palate, new forms and scenery to my body of work.
I will be at Panera Bread on Saturday September 23rd from 11:00 to 8:00 pm. Hope to see you!

I hope you can make it to Craft Revival Jewelers to see my piece in person and experience beautiful handmade creations in their unique venue.

My entry, Painting Michigan, will consist of multiple paintings created on scene at various locations in Michigan. With these paintings, I want to capture the complexities that make up Michigan's diverse landscape, in the hope to bring a sense of pride and appreciation to our beautiful state.
The focal point of the exhibit will be a 3.5' X 5" foot studio rendering of one of my plein air pieces created at the Saugatuck Dunes. This image provides audiences an initial large-scale visual immersion into the environments, before the other pieces invite them to further analyze what is contained within the worlds. Around this will be the other pieces, each one offering a more brief, but still equally as calculated and intriguing look into the natural wonders of Michigan’s outdoors and it's vast landscape.
